An interesting note about Casimir-périer as a president is his political career was a disastrous one due to an inability to cope with a slew of emergencies. These ranged from anarchist terrorism to a complete failure of his cabinet. After only one year his presidency ended with journalistic ridicule. He never returned to politics and instead became a shareholder with a mining company.
